Northern is located in the city of Marquette (pop. 20,000) in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The region offers:

- 96 miles of cross country ski trails; 500 miles of snowmobile trails;
- 11 accessible waterfalls;
- and 10 miles of city bike paths.
