I came to NMU in 2001 after a long family history of relatives attending NMU- my grandpa first attended NMU in the 1950s, followed by my dad, uncle and aunt. My brother and I followed in their footsteps and decided to attend NMU, too! I earned a bachelor of science degree with a major in political science/pre-law in 2005. I returned and earned a poc-bac degree in entertainment and sports promotion in 2007 and finally earned my Master of Public Administration degree in 2012. Since 2007, I have worked as a full time staff member at NMU as Residence Hall Director, the Program Coordinator for the McNair Scholars Program and an Academic Adviser in the Student Success Office and I’m so excited to now be part of the Admissions office. My husband (who I met at NMU!) and I have called the UP home for many years now and love going on long hikes and exploring with our two dogs! 

College was so much fun and I was lucky that my younger brother, Drew, followed me to NMU and we were able to share so many great college experiences together. Probably one of the most impactful experiences I had while at NMU was that I was a Resident Adviser and was able to live and work with students from all over the country.

No matter what direction you go, you can be out in nature within five minutes and can explore some of the most beautiful places you’ll ever see. Marquette and the UP in general have so many amazing hiking trails and places you’ll fall in love with- just get outside!

Get curious. Join clubs. Talk to new people. Sit in the front of the classroom.Step out of your comfort zone and you will find there are so many opportunities to take advantage of at NMU!
