U.S. Marine Corps - INFO TABLE

The U.S. Marine Corps will be on campus on Tuesday, October 25, from 11-2:00 p.m. in the Jamrich Hall 1100 Lobby area to offer information. The Marine Officer Program is an alternative to ROTC that sends competitively selected college students to Marine Corps Leadership training over the summer in Quantico, Virginia. The program is available every summer and opens to ALL classes and majors. Upon completing the summer training and graduation from NMU, the students earn a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps in aviation, Logistics, Intelligence, Military Police, Engineering, Infantry, and 20+ more! The program is open to ANY class and major as long as they are a full-time student with a GPA over 2.0. The Marine Corps will train them to the officer specifications for whichever job they choose, including intelligence, logistics, aviation, engineering, public affairs, communications, and many more! If you're interested in learning more, please stop by Jamrich Hall or visit them at the Fall Semester Job Fair 2022. They will have activities and prizes!

The Lower Kuskokwim School District (LKSD) is an exciting and rewarding place to learn and teach in "bush" Alaska. LKSD is the largest rural school district in Alaska with 27 schools, 350 teachers, about about 4,000 Yup'ik students. The landmass of the District is about the size of West Virginia spreading along the Kuskokwim River and Bering Coast of southwest Alaska. Travel is by jet from Anchorage, and then by small plane, snowmobile or boat from Bethel to the village sites.

LKSD supports instructional staff with a robust professional development program differentiated from whole group to individually selected courses. There is a teacher mentor program that includes orientation to the local culture and learning about our curriculum.
