Personal Training at the PEIF
We are proud to add Personal Training to the Rec Sports Fitness Program. Our personal trainers are ready to create an exercise program to meet your fitness needs. Personal training is for everyone from the youngest to the oldest, to the beginners to the advance. If you need some extra motivation, or need help putting a weekly work out together, or just want to learn something new, we can help. All Personal Trainers are certified in CPR/AED and are certified PTs. You may ask yourself, why exercise is important to me and what the benefits are. Exercise can benefit you in many ways by:

- Relieves stress.
- Prevents chronic diseases, high blood pressure, cholesterol, resting heart rate, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and different types of cancer.

Meet NMU Rec Sport's Personal Trainers
Certified Personal Trainer
Matt is a non-traditional student who is currently in the athletic training program at NMU. Before Matt started school, he served on active duty as a Marine. During his time in the Marines, he achieved a Marine Corps High Intensity Tactical Training certification, and a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer certification. After being honorably discharged in the summer of 2017, he began working at a Physical Therapy clinic to get some hands on experience with using exercise as medicine. He then decided to advance his career and continue his education by studying sports science and athletic training through NMU. His philosophy of training involves using basic and foundational movements to help individuals reach their goals. His favorite part of the job is watching his clients set personal records of any kind. He is a certified Personal trainer through NASM as well as a certified Power lifting instructor through the NCCPT.
