Most journalists structure their articles using a method called the inverted pyramid, which places the most important information first and then trickles down to the least important. The pyramid is important because its use allows for readers to leave the story at any point and still know the most important, newsworthy information. Following the pyramid also allows for easier editing, because if an article is too long it can be cut from the bottom.
