Professional/Personal Biography:
When I began college in 2019 at Hamline University in Saint Paul, MN, I never would have thought I would get involved in College Admissions. As a high schooler, I had visited many campuses and had a few poor experiences with those visits and with the admissions process. I felt I was one of the students that slipped through the cracks.
That first fall of my Freshman year at Hamline, I was hired to serve our Campus Visit Program as an overnight host, and I soon became a student Ambassador/Tour Guide. By my 3rd year, I was promoted to Ambassador Coordinator, where I was able to make a lasting impact on our Ambassador program to ensure our prospective students had experiences that left them feeling important, not forgotten. After I graduated in 2023 with a degree in Computational Data Science (applications in Anthropology/Environmental Studies), I moved to Chicago for a position as an Admission Counselor at Purdue University Northwest. I have been working with students in the Chicagoland region ever since!
I share this history to show that this work is important to me, and getting to work for an institution as special as NMU is an honor. I strive to create “student-ready” spaces and approach my work with a sense of curiosity and enthusiasm.
Most Memorable College Experience:
I went on a faculty-led watershed ecology study abroad in Belize in January of 2022. One of the other students on this trip was also named Aurora, and I had given them a tour of campus a while back! The other Aurora had transferred to Hamline University after I had led them on a tour, and now we were on a study abroad trip together! It was a crazy coincidence. For the entire trip, we were practically inseparable, and to this day we are still best friends. The trip was amazing, of course, and is also one of the most incredible and transformational experiences I had in college. It was a great way to escape a frigid Minnesotan January.
Favorite Marquette Activity:
I love going to the lake and looking at all the rocks! I usually cannot resist getting in the water, even when it is cold out. I am a foodie, so I also enjoy trying different restaurants in Marquette!
