Professional/Personal Biography:
With over a decade of interest in Higher Education and accessibility, I knew for a long time that I wanted to work with students through the college search process. For many students this is the first BIG decision that they have to make - it's important to me that I'm a valuable resource providing genuine and accurate information about NMU and the college admissions process as a whole. I have worked in Admissions professionally for six years, and gained additional experience in higher education as a student working in Admissions, Housing, and Pre-college programs over the course of 3 years. I have worked for schools with a myriad of traits: public, private, large, small, residential, city, and rural - and am happy to share my experience about each quality. I graduated from the Honors College at Eastern Michigan University as a double major with a B.A in Art and Entertainment Management, and Psychology.
During the Fall when I'm not traveling for work you can find me playing volleyball or cheering on the Detroit Lions.
Most Memorable College Experience:
This is quite difficult to answer but some of my favorite professional college experiences are tied to internships; I got to travel for a local musician going to different shows, I created an audio tour for blind patrons of a art museum, and I spent part of my summer working with high school students preparing them for college. I'm a big believer in finding a summer internship away from your hometown and college that will give you a unique experience.
Favorite Marquette Activity:
I absolutely love the Breakwall in the middle of the bay. It can be a bit difficult to find the entrance, but walking out gives you the most beautiful view of Downtown Marquette and Lake Superior.
Best advice you received regarding college or would give someone else entering college:
You absolutely have to take a tour! It's truly the best way to find out if a college will be able to feel like home for the next four years. We're confident that once you're able to see Northern in person, you'll be able to see for yourself what we all love about being up here.
