Finlandia University students currently attending in the 2022-2023 school year are guaranteed admission to Northern Michigan University for either the Summer 2023, Fall 2023 or Winter 2024 enrollment terms.

What does "eligible to return" mean?
NMU is waiving the admissions requirements for currently enrolled Finlandia students who would have been eligible to return to Finlandia University. This is an important common policy that ensures institutions are in a position to best serve students who are in a position to make academic progress toward their degree and do not have any disciplinary suspensions active at their former university.
Finlandia staff will confirm that students wishing to attend NMU would have been eligible to return to Finlandia.
If I'm guaranteed admission to NMU, why do I have to submit an application?
NMU's admissions application is very simple. It's one form that allows the Admissions Office to receive and process all of your information quickly. NMU does not require an essay, letters of recommendation or standardized test scores for admission.
NMU is waiving the admissions requirements for currently enrolled Finlandia students who would be eligible to return there. Just complete the application form, and when we receive your transcripts and information from Finlandia, you will be admitted to NMU.
Can I finish my program online at NMU?
NMU offers select programs 100% online through the Global Campus. However, you may have options to finish your program at a distance, even if a program is not listed. You can contact the Global Campus at 906-227-1200 or online@nmu.edu to discuss an online path to finishing your degree.
I was planning to attend Finlandia University as a new student in Fall 2023, but I'm not currently enrolled. Can NMU help me?
Yes! NMU welcomes students who were planning to attend Finlandia University as an incoming student for Fall 2023 to apply to NMU! Here's what you can expect during your transition:

I already attended orientation at Finlandia University, why do I have to attend transfer orientation at NMU?
Orientation is a great way to get familiar with NMU's campus, community and processes. Our transfer orientation is designed to build on your college skills and knowlege - we know you have already experienced college. Plus, as a transfer student, you can complete orientation online!
Find session information here. Instead of registering online, please call the Orientation Office at 906-227-1707 to register so they waive the orientation registration fee.

The NMU Financial Aid Office staff will be happy to discuss other aid available to you. If you filed a FAFSA for the 2023–24 award year identifying Finlandia as the institution you would be attending and need the information forwarded to another institution, visit www.fafsa.gov to make changes to your filed application.
