Associate Director of Admissions - Systems and Reporting
Hometown: Weidman, Michigan
Professional/Personal biography: I earned my Bachelors degree in Environmental Science at NMU in 2006 and I am currently working on my Masters Certificate in Public Management. After I graduated I spent two years living and working in Housing and Residence Life as a Resident Director in West Hall. Before I graduated however, I had spent three summers doing Ecology Research with the University of Minnesota in the Department of Forest Resources on the St. Paul campus helping out with a large long term Global Change experiment.
Most memorable college experience: My most memorable college experience is my first day I moved in to my room in VanAntwerp Hall. I had only brought a few thing with me so unpacking didn’t take me very long, and after I unpacked my things I sat down on my bed and said to myself “now what?” It was at that point a group of returning students came by my room, introduced themselves and filled me in on all the fun activities that were happening during the move in weekend. They then took me down the hallway to meet all the people I’d be living around that entire year…many of these people are still friends of mine to this day.
Favorite Marquette Activity: Anything outdoors but my favorites are mountain biking, road cycling, kayaking, rock climbing, and hiking.
Best advice you received regarding college or would give someone entering college: Get as involved in your education, Residence Hall, and University as you possibly can. Take advantage of the special opportunities NMU offers within your program, not to mention the special opportunities that exist with volunteering on campus and in the community. Get out and meet people and really own your college experience!
