Alumni & Friends Texting Opt-in - NMU Alumni Relations

By opting in, you authorize Northern Michigan University Advancement to send SMS text messages using an automated telephone dialing and messaging system. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services or making a gift to the university.

Use of this service and receipt of associated messages are intended only for individuals age 13 or older. By opting in, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age.

You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by replying STOP to any NMU Advancement text message. You will receive a confirmation message indicating that you have been unsubscribed from future text communications.

Opting out of text messaging will only remove you from NMU Advancement text communications. You may continue to receive other communications from Northern Michigan University Advancement, including email, mail, phone calls, or other communication channels for which you have provided consent. Separate opt-out actions may be required for those communication methods.

Information We Collect

Individuals who opt in to receive text messages from Northern Michigan University Advancement may be asked to provide information that will be used and maintained by the university in connection with this service.

Name

Your name may be used in communications and to verify your identity when opting in to receive text messages and updates.

Phone Number

Your phone number is used to deliver text messages and to verify your identity when engaging with NMU Advancement through text messaging services.

Email Address

Your email address may be associated with your existing alumni, donor, student, parent, or constituent record maintained by Northern Michigan University Advancement and may be used to identify and update that record.

NMU ID Number

Your NMU identification number may be associated with your existing constituent record maintained by Northern Michigan University Advancement and may be used to identify your record when engaging through text messaging and other communication channels. Providing your NMU ID number is optional and is not required to participate in this service.

Data Security

Northern Michigan University implements reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and participation in this service is at your own risk.

Information collected for the purpose of delivering updates, notifications, and text messages will be maintained in accordance with university policies and applicable laws. Information that is no longer needed for these purposes may be securely deleted or made inaccessible in accordance with university record retention practices.

Northern Michigan University may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Please review it periodically for any changes.
