Requesting a Transcript

NMU has collaborated with the National Student Clearinghouse to provide online transcript ordering. All current and former students can order transcripts online anytime using a major credit card. Requesting a transcript online is convenient and fast and you will get automated status notifications via text and email. The automated electronic PDF's are sent to a designated email account in about 30 minutes or less or delivered to many institutions via Electronic Transfer (ETX) in minutes.

Current Students

To order an official transcript(s), log into My.NMU. Click on the Student Services tab, click the Transcript Ordering/Tracking link. Order status and updates will be sent by email and/or text.

Transferring?  If you pre-enrolled for the fall/winter semester at NMU, those courses will appear on your transcript. You will be required to provide an additional transcript to your new college once those courses are completed or dropped.

Former Students

Click on this link: Request a Transcript Online and read the information! The green start button is at the bottom of the page. There is an option to attach a transcript matching form if needed, for institutions such as PharmCAS, PTCAS, etc.  You can order as many transcripts as you like in a single session.

*Transcript delivery for Pre-1993 students may take up to one business day due to manual uploading of older records.

VISITOR RESTRICTION: Northern’s visitor restrictions remain in place. Non-NMU individuals should not be on campus without prior approval. Please do not come to campus to order your transcript. Former students are welcome at Northern Center’s public spaces, such as the bookstore or Wildcat Den, but the Hedgcock Building where the Registrar's Office is located, is restricted and closed to the public at this time.

If you are experiencing technical difficulties with submitting transcript order information on the NSC site, try using a different web browser such as Chrome or FireFox, and/or delete your history/cookies. Some users experience problems with smart phone ordering. If that's the issue for you, try submitting your order using a computer.

Transcripts and transcript payments cannot be made by phone, e-mail, from friends, your spouse or relatives in accordance with The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. There are no exceptions to this policy. NMU does not accept transcript requests by fax machine. Please order online.

If you have a financial or laptop hold, your transcripts will not be released. Please go to the NMU e-bill payment center or contact the Student Service Center at email: or (906) 227-1221. Once the hold is cleared, you can request a transcript.

Select the drop down box in the order to send directly to the listed organizations. The organizations listed above are only a partial list. More organizations are being added each week. - Click on this link for more information on how to submit by Electronic Exchange (ETX).

How to guide

Check the Hold for Degree Posting option if you want to wait for your transcript to state that you have graduated. (Currently available for May graduates only). Previous degrees are already posted to the transcript.

Degree posting requires a verification process that takes extra time after grades are posted to appear on a transcript. To check and see if your degree has been posted to your transcript - log onto My.NMU, go to the Student Services tab and go to the Unofficial Transcript link. When you request a transcript, you may request one of the following:

  • Send transcript now (immediately after order submission)
  • Send after grades posted (Thurs., May 6)
  • Send after degree is posted to transcript (May 10 - 31)

Currently enrolled students can view their unofficial transcript at My.NMU. Use Control/P  to print transcript or save as a PDF. Former student's can request their transcript online using the link above.
