Exam Schedule Notes

  • Exams will be given in the regularly scheduled classroom of the "First Class Meeting Day".
  • First Class Meeting Day - disregard holidays or inclement weather days and use the first class meeting day of a regular semester week when using this table.
  • Exams for courses regularly scheduled for 6 p.m. or later will be held during the regularly assigned class period of exam week.
  • Exams for lab sections will be during the last regularly scheduled lab before exam week.
  • First block courses will be tested during the regular class period.
  • Second block courses will follow the schedule listed above.
  • Note that special times have been set aside for multiple section exams.
  • Courses of 1 and 2 credit hours may have different examination schedules based on approved departmental provisions.  These dates and times will be identified by the instructor on the course syllabus.
  • In the event of an exam conflict, or if a student has more than three exams on the same day, the student and the instructors will agree upon an alternate time for the student to take one of the exams.

University Closure During Exam Week

Students should be prepared for the possibility of in-class exams being postponed and held later in the week than originally scheduled due to unforeseen circumstances, such as inclement weather, causing the University to close. If the University were to close one day during the first four days final exam week, that day’s exams would be moved to Friday of exam week. Should the University close a second day or on the Friday of exam week, the exams scheduled for that day would be moved to Saturday afternoon of exam week.

EXCEPTIONS: Faculty members may move in-class exams to an online format in response to
an unplanned University closure only if the following conditions are met:

  1. The course syllabus distributed at the beginning of the term states that the exam would move online if the University closed.
  2. The online exam is available to students during a time that includes, at minimum, the originally scheduled date and time. The online exam may be accessible to students for a longer period of time than the originally scheduled exam.

Exams for those courses designated as online courses (i.e. sections 50-69) will be administered at the originally scheduled date and time regardless of the changes to the in-class exam schedule due to unexpected University closures.
