TV IMPACT ON LITERACY DISCUSSED AT NMU

            Amanda Rosenburg, a master’s degree candidate in the psychology department at Northern Michigan University, will present “The Power to Read: An Evaluation of Multiple Viewings of the PBS Television Show, Super Why!, on Children’s Literacy Skills.” The event will be held from 3:10-4:15 p.m. Friday, March 27, in Gries Hall room 167. The public is invited.

            Rosenburg’s presentation will look at educational programming, particularly on television, and how it may help children develop stronger reading skills. Rosenburg will provide an overview of data collected from a year-long study on the literacy development of children 3 to 5 years old. The research evaluated the effects of repeated viewing of the new PBS program, Super Why!.
