NMU BEGINS MARKET STUDY FOR ‘MIXED-USE’ PRESQUE ISLE PROJECT

Friday 10, 2009
Northern Michigan University has retained economic consulting and research firm Anderson Economic Group, LLC of East Lansing to assist with a market study for a proposed mixed-use real estate development project along Presque Isle Avenue.

In conjunction with NMU’s recently revised campus master plan, the area along Presque Isle that is adjacent to campus and NMU athletic venues was identified as a possible opportunity for mixed-use development that would include retail, office and residential space. Anderson Economic Group will help the university study the feasibility of the proposed development, as well as define the correct mixture for any development that may be pursued.

Anderson Economic Group staff members will be in Marquette on Monday and Tuesday, April 20 and 21, to conduct community surveys and focus groups in order to identify and understand market demand and community interests. They will also be touring the proposed site and completing an inventory of currently available market offerings.

Community and business members interested in participating should contact Jim Thams in the NMU Engineering and Planning office at 906-227-2475.
