AUTHOR ANYA ACHTENBERG GIVES READING

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Author and writing instructor Anya Achtenberg will give a reading at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, at the Women’s Federated Clubhouse in Marquette. The event is free and open to the public.
Achtenberg is the author of the novel More Than the Wind and the novella The Stories of Devil-Girl. She has also written two poetry collections: The Stone of Language and I Know What the Small Girl Knew. Her stories have received awards from Zoetrope: All-Story, New Letters, the Asheville Fiction Writers Workshop, the Raymond Carver Story Contest and others.
She has taught creative writing at New York University, Springfield College Boston, Hamline University, the University of Minnesota's Split Rock Arts Program, the University of New Mexico, The International Women's Writing Guild and The Loft in Minnesota. Achtenberg currently teaches writer's workshops and classes throughout the country on the essential elements of story, autobiography and autobiographical fiction, and is the founder of “Writing for Social Change: Re-Dream a Just World,” a series of multi-genre workshops on writing for social change.
