MARQUETTE, Mich.—Steven DeCarlo, chief executive officer of American Wholesale Insurance (AmWINS) Group Inc., will give a free public presentation at Northern Michigan University. DeCarlo is serving as the executive in residence for the NMU College of Business. His presentation is scheduled at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in Mead Auditorium. A reception will follow.

            DeCarlo is a recent winter of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In less than a decade, AmWINS has been transformed from a small retail brokerage startup into one of the nation’s largest wholesale distribution firms. Prior to joining AmWINS, he held various leadership positions with Royal & SunAlliance USA Inc., including senior vice president for business insurance and executive vice president and chief financial officer of the company’s excess and surplus lines division.
