WNMU-TV BROADCASTING AT LOW POWER
Friday 23, 2009
MARQUETTE, Mich.-Northern Michigan University's public television station, WNMU-TV, is experiencing technical problems at its transmission tower. The station has lowered its power by about 50 percent and viewers may notice outages through the weekend-possibly longer-as engineers work to solve the problem.
Charter Cable subscribers are not affected. The disruption impacts viewers who watch WNMU-TV through Dish Network or over the air via smaller cable operators or antenna.
Eric Smith, director of broadcast and audio-visual services, said it appears to be either icing on the antenna or a failed part on the antenna or transmission line. A crew is en route from lower Michigan to assess the situation and determine how to repair it.
