MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will present “Restoring and Appreciating our Native Wildflowers” on Thursday, April 8.

            Volunteers recently met at the Hiawatha National Forest Greenhouse in Marquette to help plant 25,000 cells containing native wildflower seed for Grand Island. This NCLL program gives participants an opportunity to tour the field station, located at 1030 Wright St., and observe the greenhouse and shade house. Deb LeBlanc, plant ecologist for the west unit of the Hiawatha National Forest, will also describe the many types of flower seeds. The group will then proceed to the Superior Dome to watch LeBlanc’s “Celebrating Wildflowers” PowerPoint presentation, which depicts the many varieties native to the Upper Peninsula.

The two-part program runs from 1-4 p.m. It costs $4 for NCLL members and $7 for non-members. The registration deadline is Tuesday, April 6. Contact Ethel Dobson at 475-5752.
