Thursday 24, 2010
MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Beaumier Upper Peninsula Heritage Center at Northern Michigan University is seeking U.P. families with Canadian roots for an upcoming exhibition on the migration of Canadian families to the region.

The center would like to hear from U.P. residents of Anishinaabeg, English, French, German, Irish and other ethnic backgrounds whose families lived in Canada for at least one generation and migrated to the Upper Peninsula during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The exhibition will include photographs, artifacts, stories, diaries and other materials relevant to their migration and lives in the Upper Peninsula. It opens in January 2011.

To contact the center about having your family included, call 906-227-1219, e-mail heritage@nmu.edu or write to The Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center, Northern Michigan University, 1401 Presque Isle Ave., Marquette, MI 49855.
