NMU PHYSICS PRESENTS 'ICECUBE PROJECT' PROGRAM

MARQUETTE, Mich.—A presentation titled “The IceCube Project: A New View of the Universe from the South Pole” will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, in Northern Michigan University’s West Science Building room 2904.
Jim Madsen, a University of Wisconsin physics professor, will discuss the IceCube Project, the single largest detector ever built and a collaboration of more than 250 scientists. Once completed, the project will use a cubic kilometer of ice and a companion surface array to look for particles from outer space.
This symposium is free and open to the public.
