NCLL OFFERS MCCORMICK TRACT HIKE
Wednesday 6, 2010
MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will host a hiking trip up the McCormick tract at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16.
The carpool will meet in the morning in the Berry Events Center’s east parking lot. At the tract, participants will hike 3.5 miles to Whitedeer Lake, which was the site of the McCormick settlement. Along with exploring the foundations, there will be two side trips: one to the McCormick dump, where artifacts can be seen from the trail; and the second at the pump house and well for the settlement. The hike totals 8 miles and is along an old road, making it relatively easy.
This class costs $4 for members and $7 for non-members. Register by Oct. 13 by calling Al Reynolds at 360-4167 or 475-9836.
