ISRAELI ETHNIC ENSEMBLE PERFORMS AT NMU

Friday 8, 2010

MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Israeli Ethnic Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, in Forest Roberts Theatre as part of the International Performing Arts Series. The five-member band brings alive the cultural mosaic that is Israel with sounds drawn from Eastern European, Balkan, Gypsy, Sephardic and Yemenite melodies. The music is described as “rollicking and joyous at times, moving and mournful at others, but always passionate and performed from the heart.”

This is the third group to visit Marquette through a partnership with Arts Midwest, which brings international ensembles to Midwestern communities for performances and week-long residencies to foster global understanding. Marquette is one of only nine cities selected to host the 2009-11 Arts Midwest World Fest.

Tickets are $5 advance/$6 at the door for students; $13/$15 for NMU faculty/staff and seniors 60+; and $18/$20 for the general public. They are available at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets.
