FIVE 'BEST NEW POETS' HAVE NMU TIES

Monday 6, 2010
MARQUETTE, Mich. – Five former Northern Michigan University English teaching assistants are listed among the 50 Best New Poets of 2010.

Lisa Coutley, Adam Houle, Brandi George, Eric Smith and Sarah Wangler were selected for Best New Poets, an annual anthology of poems from emerging writers who have not yet published a full-length book. Each year, a guest editor selects poems from nominations made by literary magazines and writing programs, as well as an open online competition. The work of the 50 writers represented provides “the best perspective available on the continuing vitality of poetry as it is being practiced today.”

Best New Poets is distributed for the Samovar Press in cooperation with Meridian: The Semi-Annual from the University of Virginia.
