GERMAN VINTER’S DINNER IS THEME OF SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER

Friday 1, 2011
MARQUETTE, Mich.—Northern Michigan University’s hospitality management program will hold its annual extravaganza scholarship fundraising dinner Friday, April 15, at the Jacobetti Center.

This year’s theme is “Das Leben ist zu kurz, um schlechten Wein zu trinken: Life is too short to drink bad wine.” The meal will replicate a German vintner’s dinner.

The reception begins at 6 p.m. and features German wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres. The five-course dinner begins at 7 p.m. and includes Veal rouladen, sauerkraut salad, traditional black forest cake. A silent auction will take place throughout the evening.

The cost is $100 per guest and space is limited. Reservations are being taken through Friday, April 8, by calling the NMU Foundation at 906-227-2627. All benefits go to support scholarships for NMU hospitality management majors.

“We guarantee you will say vielen dank – thank you in German – when the night is through,” said hospitality management major Logan Starring. “As the Germans are fond of saying, ‘Kommen essen, trinken und fröhlick sein,” or come eat, drink and be merry. While you’re doing so, you’ll be helping NMU students.”
