MARQUETTE, Mich.—A Contra Dance featuring music by Tamarack will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the Dance Zone, located at 1113 Lincoln Ave. in Marquette.

Northern Michigan University’s Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center, the NMU International Dancers and Dance Zone are presenting a series of monthly folk dances as part of the Upper Peninsula Folklife Festival. Tamarack is a traditional dance music group based in Iron Mountain.

The cost is $5 for adults and $1 for students. The U.P. Folklife Festival is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs. For more information, contact the Beaumier Center at 227-1219 or heritage@nmu.edu.
