FELTING WORKSHOPS OFFERED

Wednesday 19, 2011
MARQUETTE, Mich.—Three workshops collectively titled “Applications of Felting” will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10, in the Peter White Public Library arts and culture room. Individuals may attend one or all of the workshops, which are co-sponsored by the Northern Center for Lifelong Learning and the Marquette Senior Center. The presenter is Jan Falk, a visiting felter from Wisconsin.

The first session, “Making a Felt Bead Necklace,” will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Falk will explain how to make felt beads using hands, soapy water and colorful wool roving. Participants will string the beads on their choice of necklace styles.

In the second session, which runs from 1-4 p.m., individuals will make a decorative small felt case that can be beaded or embroidered and used to hold glasses, cell phones or other items.

The final session, “Felted Flowers,” will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. Participants can experience the process of wet felting, an easy flat technique to create a brooch, pin or hair accent with a designed surface.

Costs are as follows: session I and session III, $20 NCLL members/$25 non-members; session II, $27 NCLL members/$32 non-members.

Register by Thursday, Oct. 27, by calling Elizabeth Bates at 345-9295 or 361-1454.
