FAMILY-FRIENDLY MUSICAL AT NMU
Wednesday 2, 2011
MARQUETTE, Mich.—Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre will present the family-friendly musical, A Year with Frog and Toad. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, Nov. 16-19, with an additional 1 p.m. matinee on Saturday.
Themusical remains true to the spirit of the classic children’s tales as it follows two great friends—the cheerful and popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad—through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in the spring, they proceed to plant gardens, swim, rake leaves and go sledding. They learn life lessons along the way, including a most important one about friendship and rejoicing in the attributes that make each of us different and special. The show is rated G and includes performance flight sequences featuring the bird characters.
Ansley Valentine directs the production. Freshman Patrick Bradley from Ely Township plays the role of Frog. Adam Lowe from Baraboo, Wis., is Toad. Remaining cast members and their respective roles are: Lauren Larsen from Brighton, Alycia Heckathorn from Ironwood and Jen Skogman from Marquette, Birds; Diamond Allen from Grand Rapids, Mouse; Jake Laitinen of Marquette, Frog Understudy; Erin Powley from West Branch, Turtle; Matt Gilbertson from Sault Ste. Marie, Lizard; Jim Vincent from Menominee, Mole 1, Squirrel and Father Frog; Kristen Halsey of Marquette, Mole 2; Shaylee Carlson from Ishpeming, Mole 3 and the Squirrel; Janae Peterson and Julie Williams of Marquette, Young Frog and Mother Frog, respectively; and Jordayn Fisher from Chicago, Ill., Large and Terrible Frog.
Tickets are available at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets. Admission is $12 for the general public and $8 for NMU students.
