Three Divas Perform Broadway Favorites

Tuesday 6, 2012

MARQUETTE, Mich.—The First Nighters Club at Northern Michigan University will present an evening of Broadway favorites performed by “Three Divas of the U.P.” on Saturday, March 17. Denise Clark, Kristie Moe and Leslie Sollid will sing classic selections from Cabaret, The Music Man, Evita, A Chorus Line, Follies and other Broadway musicals. All ticket sales will support theater student scholarships.

The concert is directed by Jeff Spencer. It is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in Forest Roberts Theatre. Tickets are $10 for NMU students and $20 for the general public. They are available at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets.

Clark is an NMU alumna who has remained active in local theater as a director and actor since the early 1980s. One of her favorite roles was Mother Superior in Nunsense. Moe began performing at the age of four and has appeared in shows at Lake Superior Theatre and the Vista Theater, including Hair and Anything Goes. Sollid was active in NMU and Vista Theater productions before taking time off to start a family. This performance marks her return to the stage.

The Three Divas of the U.P. will approach Broadway from the female perspective, following up on the previous Three Tenors of the U.P. concert. Both events were planned as fundraisers for the NMU First Nighters Club, which provides student scholarships, supports graduate artistic interns and offers financial assistance to students attending auditions or going on the NMU theater program’s annual field studies trip to New York City.
