NMU Presents Spelling Bee Musical

Monday 9, 2012

MARQUETTE, Mich.—Northern Michigan University's Forest Roberts Theatre will present the Broadway musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Tuesday, April 17 through Saturday, April 21. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m., with an additional 1 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for the general public. They are available at any E-Z Ticket outlet.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee features six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves. The students learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser. The musical is a tale of overachievers, angst and the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime.

Paul Truckey directs the production.
