NCLL Offers Historical Mine Tour

            MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will offer a class titled “The Remains of the 1846 Jackson Forge and the Michigan Iron Industry Museum” at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, in Negaunee.
            Local historian Robert Dobson will lead the group on this two-mile hike. Participants will observe a 1904 memorial and stonework from the 1846-1856 era. They will also learn about the original route that was used to haul ore in wagons from the Jackson Mine. The event will end at the Michigan Iron Industry Museum. Participants will meet for this event at Saints Auto Sales parking lot on US-41, located just past the Carp River.
