Northern Nights Series Announced

MARQUETTE, Mich.—Northern Nights is the new name for the Northern Michigan University Performing Arts Series, which has brought top-notch entertainment to campus and the Marquette community since 1989. Season ticket prices have also been reduced this year.

All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. on their respective dates. The 2012-13 series schedule follows:

Friday, Sept. 8: Singer-songwriter Susan Werner, who blends her love of folk music and the great American songbook, will perform in Forest Roberts Theatre.

Saturday, Oct. 13: The Homemade Jamz Blues Band from Mississippi will bring its youthful exuberance to the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center.

Friday, Nov. 16: Frontier Ruckus, an acoustic ensemble from Ann Arbor that has toured the United States and Europe, will perform in 102 Jamrich Hall.

Saturday, Jan. 26: The Young Dubliners, a Celtic rock band, will play in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center.

Saturday, March 16: Columbian Joropo folk group Cimarrón will perform in Forest Roberts Theatre.

Thursday, April 18: Three-time Grammy-nominated Latin jazz combo Tiempo Libre will close out the season with a show at Kaufman Auditorium.

Season tickets are more affordable, based on a new tiered price structure that factors in the cost of bringing each group to NMU. Prices are as follows: students and kids, $20; NMU faculty/staff and seniors 60+, $60; general public, $85. Individual ticket prices vary and will be available beginning in August. Prices for the concert at Kaufman Auditorium include a $1 Kaufman Renovation Fee. Tickets are available at al NMU EZ Ticket outlets.
