MARQUETTE, Mich.— A presentation about the effect of vasopressin deficiency on rat behavior and cognition will be held at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, in Gries Hall at Northern Michigan University. Michael Berquist, an NMU master’s candidate, will be presenting.

            Berquist’s presentation titled “Assessment of attention in vasopressin-deficient Brattleboro rats using a five-choice serial reaction time task” will discuss how to further evaluate the cognitive profile of rats with vasopressin deficiency by studying attention in male and female Brattleboro rats. Vasopressin is a neuropeptide that may influence behavioral and cognitive processes. Berquist’s research suggests that vasopressin deficiency diminishes cognitive functioning.
