Price Named National PRSSA President
MARQUETTE, Mich.—Brian Price, a Northern Michigan University graduate student from Negaunee, was recently elected 2013-14 national president for the Public Relations Student Society of America.
As the national president, Price will act as the principal administrative officer of the PRSSA national committee and as a liaison to the Public Relations Society of America’s vice president of education and PRSA’s Board of Directors. He will also preside over all national committee meetings, supervise the PRSSA national conference and advise and instruct national committee members on policies and procedures.
“PRSSA has given me so many opportunities and experiences and I’m excited to give back to the society,” said Price. “We have an excellent national committee in place to best serve the needs of our 11,000 members nationwide to make sure that membership improves both the profession and future professional.”
Price joined the NMU chapter of PRSSA as a junior and was elected president his senior year. He served the 2012-13 PRSSA national committee as the vice president of chapter development, for which he received the Elaine Averick outstanding national committee member award. He has gained related experience as a student employee and currently as a graduate student in NMU communications and marketing and through an internship with a public relations agency, Taylor Global Inc.
Price earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from NMU in 2012 and is a candidate for a master’s in public administration.
