Myers' Fiction Places First Among 116 Submissions

MARQUETTE— Northern Michigan University junior Mackenzie Myers was awarded first place for a work of original fiction at the 2013 Sigma Tau Delta International Convention in Portland, Ore.
Myers, a writing major from Alanson, Mich., won the $600 prize out of 116 fiction submissions. Her paper, “The Law of Motion,” dealt with issues of karma, relationships and stereotypes.
Sigma Tau Delta is an international honors society for English majors. Members present original works of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, screenplays and critical analysis at annual conventions across the country.
