New Play Performed in Marquette
MARQUETTE, Mich. —Performances of a new play bound for Washington, D.C. titled “Waiting for Orson” will take place at 8 p.m. Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22, at the James A. Panowski Black Box Theatre at Northern Michigan University. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
This play was written by Ian Leahy and features the Instinct Theatre Company. The story is considered a “dramedy” because it explores tensions between family, friends and a potential true love when an individual gives up everything to try to find the true meaning of life.
The Saturday performance will include a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and a dessert social with the cast, director and playwright. Funds raised will support getting the staff, cast and crew to Washington D.C. for a performance of the show at the Capital Fringe Festival in July.
The cost of tickets on Friday night is $10 for adults and $5 for students. All tickets for Saturday’s show are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. To purchase tickets, contact the Forest Roberts Theater Box Office at 906-227-2553.
The project includes NMU alumni Rebekah Heldt, Craig Grabarczyk, Christopher Scott Leith, Sherry Bollero, Erin Renee Morgan and Patrick Wagner, as well as Charles Leath, a retired NMU faculty member.
