Northern Nights Series Schedule Announced

            MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Northern Nights series at Northern Michigan University, formerly known as the Performing Arts Series, will present seven concerts from various musical genres in 2013-2014. Season tickets offer the equivalent value of one free performance compared with purchasing individual concert tickets. They are available at the Superior Dome or online at www.nmu.edu/tickets and are priced at $32 for students/kids, $80 for NMU employees and seniors 60 and older and $110 for the general public. Individual concert tickets go on sale Monday, July 22, at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets or online.

            All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Here is the full season schedule: Alash, throat singers from Tuva, Saturday, Sept. 21, at Forest Roberts Theatre as part of the Uniting Neighbors in the Experience of Diversity (UNITED) Conference; the St. Louis Brass, a blend of classical sounds and humor, Saturday, Oct. 12, in Kaufman Auditorium; BlackMahal, Punjabi funk hip hop, Friday, Oct. 25, in the University Center Great Lakes Rooms; Young Dubliners, a Celtic rock group, Saturday, Nov. 16, in the University Center Great Lakes Rooms; The Holmes Brothers, soulful rhythm and blues, Friday, Feb. 14, in the University Center Great Lakes Rooms as part of Black History Month; Markus Nordenstreng and Tuoma Prättälä, folk rock straight from Finland, Friday, March 21, in Jamrich Hall 102; and Regina Carter’s Southern Comfort, jazz with a Delta soul, Saturday, April 12, in Kaufman Auditorium as part of the NMU Jazz Festival.
