NMU Weekend Events

Thursday 24, 2013

“Make a Difference Day,” a nationwide event that celebrates neighbors helping neighbors, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26. The Northern Michigan University Volunteer Center is coordinating the event locally. NMU students and other volunteers will assist community members at 246 service locations in areas such as yard work, washing windows and routine fall maintenance.

Possible photo/interview opportunities of volunteers in action would be between 11 a.m.-noon on Birch Street in Marquette and late morning on County Road 500 and County Road 603 in Negaunee.

For more information, contact the NMU Volunteer Center at 227-2466.

Also this weekend at NMU is Family Weekend, which has activities scheduled for students’ families visiting Marquette to get a feel for the NMU student experience. The schedule of events includes activities such as a U.P. fish fry, a tailgate party before the Wildcat football team plays Wayne State and several other events. A full schedule is available at www.nmu.edu/familyweekend.
