Athlete Talent Show to Benefit Hancock Girl

Friday 25, 2013

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University’s varsity athletic teams will participate in a charitable talent show to benefit a 6-year-old girl from Hancock through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The girl has been diagnosed with nemaline myopathy.

The performance is at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, in Vandament Arena. It is open to the public. Donations will be accepted for any amount beyond the $1 admission charge.

Each of NMU’s 12 athletic teams will share a talent and compete for prizes while being judged by NMU coaches and faculty. Soccer will be the lone exception because of a competitive conflict. The show is scheduled to last 60-90 minutes.

Student athletes also will sell Make-A-Wish stars at the show and t-shirts at major athletic events and throughout campus. Athletes from NMU and Michigan Technological University have partnered to hold events on their respective campuses to raise the necessary funds for the 6-year-old’s dream trip to Disney World.

The talent show is sponsored by the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. For more information, contact Rose Frankowski at rfrankow@nmu.edu or 612-250-3453.
