Panel Discussion on Concussions Tonight

The impact of concussions is a timely and relevant topic, with increased media exposure related to their prevalence in athletics and among those who suffer other types of head injuries. The Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center and the NMU Foundation will host a panel discussion focused on concussions at 6 tonight (Feb. 25) in West Science 2904, lecture room B. Media are welcome to cover the event. Participants include NMU alumnus Mark Lovell, founding director of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's sports medicine concussion program and co-developer of ImPact post-concussion testing software; Julian Bales, co-director of the NorthShore Neurological Institute; Dr. Rich Rovin, MGH neurosurgeon; Dr. J. Bryan Dixon, team physician for the Olympic Training Center at NMU; Abbas Rattani, medical ethicist; and Rob Winn, John Lawrence and Marguerite Moore representing NMU. The event is also available online at www.hopestartshere.org.
