MARQUETTE, Mich.— In honor of Women’s History Month, Northern Michigan University will show a film by independent video producer and director Audrey Geyer and bring photographer iO Tillett Wright to campus to present her work. Both events are free and open to the public.

Geyer has worked in film for more than 15 years and is the founder and executive director of Visions, located in metro Detroit. NMU will show Geyer’s film, Our Fires Still Burn: The Native American Experience, which explores the lives of Native Americans in Michigan. It will air at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12 in Whitman Hall Commons, room 136.

Wright is working on a project to photograph individuals who identify as members of the LGBTQ community. She will give a lecture at 7 p.m. Monday, March 24 in Jamrich 101, where she will present some of her images. Wright also will hold a photo shoot at NMU that is open to LGBTQ students, faculty, staff and community members. It is scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, March 24, at the University Center.

Wright’s lecture is also part of the NMU Diversity Common Reader Program and presented by the President’s Committee on Diversity.
