MARQUETTE, Mich.- Alisha Arnsparger of Gwinn is the recipient of the Allan L. Niemi Scholarship at Northern Michigan University for the 2014-2015 academic year.

To qualify for the scholarship students must be an Upper Peninsula resident in his/her junior or senior year with a grade point average of 2.7 or higher. The individual must also have contributed significantly to the on-campus living environment in residence halls or university apartments. 

The Allan L. Niemi Scholarship was established in 1985 by alumni and friends of Allan Niemi. Niemi came to NMU in 1949 and served as a professor and head of the music department. Prior to his retirement in 1981 he served as vice-president for student affairs.
