Ferguson Receives NMU Scholarship

MARQUETTE, Mich.- Emily Ferguson of Lake Ann is the recipient of the Don H. Bottum Scholarship at Northern Michigan University for the 2014-2015 academic year.

To qualify for the scholarship students must be pursuing a degree in elementary education with good academic standing. One award is granted to the highest achieving student in the education program who has reached the level of a senior and the second award is given to a student who has just entered the education program.

The Don H. Bottum Scholarship was established in 1995 by friends and family in memory of Don Hollis Bottum. During his 36 year at NMU, Bottum influenced students in countless positive ways. He was dean of men, director of housing, and principal of the Pierce Laboratory School. The Don H. Bottum University Center at NMU in also named in his honor.
