MARQUETTE, Mich.- Rachel Pascoe of Ishpeming is the recipient of the W. Albert Hakala Endowed Scholarship at Northern Michigan University for the 2014-2015 academic year.

To qualify for the scholarship students must be a sophomore, junior or senior pursuing a degree in education, with first preference given to those majoring in elementary education.

The W. Albert Hakala Endowed Scholarship was established by W. Albert Hakala, a 1943 graduate of John D. Pierce Training School, Northern College of Education, a 1949 graduate of Northern Michigan College of Education and retired professor from the elementary education department in the school of education at Central Michigan University.
