Hobby Lobby Case Discussed at NMU
A panel discussion titled "Hobby Lobby and Other Supreme Court Controversies" will be held at Northern Michigan University to mark Constitution Day. The political science department will host this free event at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, in Reynolds Recital Hall. The public is invited.
NMU’s commemoration of the 227th anniversary of the U.S. Constitution’s signing features an open review with NMU faculty of the implications stemming from the 2014 Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Supreme Court case. According to department head Carter Wilson, “This case involves an ongoing public debate over the scope and limits of human rights and religious freedoms.” There will also be a question-and-answer session for the audience.
