Mary Lambert Performs at NMU Friday

Monday 13, 2015

Mary Lambert, the singer/songwriter best known for her "Same Love'"collaboration with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, will perform an acoustic set at 8 p.m. Friday, April 17, in Northern Michigan University's Vandament Arena. Tickets are $5 for NMU students and $8 for the general public. They are available at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets.

Lambert is inspired by confessional folk singers and spoken-word poets. Her debut EP, Letters Don't Talk, was released in 2012 and established Lambert as a formidable Seattle artist. She caught the attention of local hip-hop duo, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, with whom she wrote and sang the same-sex rights anthem, "Same Love." The song's hook, which Lambert wrote in two hours, draws on her experiences as a lesbian growing up in a tumultuous, Christian household.

This concert is co-sponsored by Northern Arts & Entertainment, NMU OUTlook and Queers & Allies.
