Isle Royale Family Camp Expedition Offered

Northern Michigan University’s Glenn T. Seaborg Math and Science Center will host five-day guided family camping trips to Isle Royale over the summer focused on science education in the outdoors. The first trip will be from Sunday, June 28, to Friday, July 3. The second is scheduled from Sunday, July 5, to Friday, July 10. No camping experience is required.

The trips will be led by science teacher and Isle Royale camping veteran Karen Bacula. They will feature hands-on learning related to such topics as island history and ecology. Families also will be able to take part in recreational hiking, paddling and other activities while exploring the largest island in Lake Superior. Most camping equipment and all meals will be provided.

Registration is open to students 8 years of age or older and their parents, grandparents or guardians. The cost is $385 per student and $460 per adult. Registration must be completed by Friday, May 1. For more information, visit www.nmu.edu/seaborg.
