NMU Homecoming Activities Sept. 18-19

MARQUETTE, Mich. — Northern Michigan University’s 2015 Homecoming celebration will include several events for alumni and community members. This year’s theme is “Fight for the Green and Gold.”

The Homecoming parade begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, on Third Street between Fair Avenue and Hewitt Street. It will include athletic teams, decorated floats/cars and music. An All-Alumni Reception will follow from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Harbor Room of the Landmark Inn, where NMU President Fritz Erickson and head football coach Chris Ostrowsky will greet guests. The Phil Lynch Quartet and alumni musicians will perform in the lobby. A College of Business Alumni Reception will take place at the same time in the Sky Room of the Landmark Inn.

Saturday’s events include a Community Tailgate from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Superior Dome. This family friendly activity includes free bouncy houses, lawn games, a dunk tank, DJ and photo booth, and appearances by the NMU Marching Band, NMU cheerleaders and dance team. Food and beer will be available for purchase. Following the tailgate, the NMU Wildcats football team will play Hillsdale College. Kickoff is at 4 p.m. Tickets are available at http://www.nmu.edu/tickets. After the game, the Fifth Quarter Celebration will take place at the Holiday Inn. NMU alumni and fans are welcome to enjoy entertainment offered by the Nothing Less Party Band.

An All-NMU Football Reunion celebrating the 40th anniversary of the National Championship Team and an NMU Alumni Band Reunion, which includes a halftime performance at the football game, will also be held during Homecoming.
