The Northern Climate Network at Northern Michigan University will continue its colloquium series with “What Are Other Michigan Communities Doing?” on Friday, Sept. 18. Daniel Brown, a climatologist at the University of Michigan, will give the presentation at noon in 1318 Jamrich Hall. The public is invited free of charge.

According to the presentation description, communities and colleges across the Great Lakes region are adapting to climate change. "Rising temperatures, declining Great Lakes ice cover and stronger, more frequent storms are already impacting natural resources and local economies, but the largest changes are yet to come. To avoid future problems and to take advantage of a warmer climate, cities and universities can lead by example. NMU and Marquette are well positioned to champion climate adaptation in the Lake Superior basin and the Upper Peninsula."

The Northern Climate Network is a student-led, campus-wide consortium providing opportunities for faculty, staff, students and community members to discuss and learn about climate change in our region. For more information, contact climate@nmu.edu.
