MARQUETTE, Mich. —Northern Michigan University’s Center for Native American Studies will host an Indigenous People’s Resistance Day event. It will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, in Jamrich 1322. Guest presenter Judge Ruth Hopkins will join via Skype to talk about colonialism and attempted genocides of Native Americans.
Hopkins is a tribal judge for the Spirit Lake tribe in Fort Totten, N.D. She is also the founder of lastrealindians.com and a columnist for Indian Country Today Media Network.
