“Make a Difference Day,” a nationwide event that celebrates neighbors helping neighbors and the power of all individuals to improve someone's life, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24.  The Northern Michigan University Volunteer Center is coordinating the event locally. More than 1,000 student and community volunteers will help rake leaves and do other yard work for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities in the local communities of Marquette, Negaunee, Ishpeming, Harvey and Gwinn.

It is estimated that 700-900 volunteers will participate. The NMU students and community volunteers will check in at 8 a.m. at NMU’s University Center before heading to their assigned locations in area communities.

For more information on this event, contact the NMU Volunteer Center by calling 906-227-2466 or email volctr@nmu.edu.
